School newspapers are becoming a thing of the past and digital media is the future. My students would like to jazz up their school communications by creating a school podcast. The podcast would allow students to become roving reporters, attending school events and interviewing students and staff, reporting on the successes of their peers, producing editorials, and updating other students of the great things going on at our school using the fun platform of a podcast. Ace reporters hone their skills through experience, and our podcast will be a catalyst for those experiences. As school reporters, students develop skills allowing them to be more discerning about what is newsworthy, become better speakers, better writers, and, of course, communicate all the happenings at our school to the staff and student body. A school podcast allows the students to seek out the positive aspects of their school and become active and involved student citizens.
