Our elementary students need a place to safely secure their artwork while it dries. In the recent past, we have dried our work by laying it out on the floor. In our school, we have 26 classes and approximately 530 students, ranging from pre-kindergarten to sixth grade, utilizing the same art classroom throughout the week. With so much traffic, you can imagine how hard it is to keep work from unintentional harm, and organized by class, without a drying rack. My students and I would like to ask for your help in protecting our artwork by obtaining a drying rack. Students will be better able to see their achievement on individual projects and their growth throughout the year when their artworks are protected throughout the creative process, from ideation to exhibition. A drying rack is widely applicable beyond painting media. It can also be used to prevent oil and chalk pastels and charcoal artworks from being smudged. Even with relatively stable dry media such as graphite and marker, a drying rack will assist in keeping the classroom clean and tidy so that student work is not unintentionally harmed or lost. Art class is extremely important to our students today. It provides a space where they are free to experiment without fear of failure, and to express themselves without fear of judgment. It helps them develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. Please help us to protect these special student creations by obtaining a drying rack. We sincerely appreciate any assistance you are able to grant. Thank you.
