SPIRE is an intensive reading intervention for nonreaders and struggling readers. SPIRE provides a direct, intensive approach to the foundations of reading. These areas include phonological awareness, phonics, spelling, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension SPIRE will help my students close the educational gap that they currently have in Reading. My students are performing below grade level and deserve the chance to be successful in reading. There levels of reading vary tremendously. I plan to give my students a placement test. This will guide me into providing the most appropriate instruction. The SPIRE program will be used daily as a reading intervention.
