As a volunteer who teaches Ballet Folklorico to students after school we work towards learning discipline, to be more aware of their own cultural identities, share their pride towards other cultures, and fulfill their eagerness to be active. It also allows students of another culture to learn and be culturally aware of specific traditions that are still present in our community today. When this project is funded, it will provide students of low socioeconomic backgrounds with the proper materials to fully immerse themselves while they are practicing. Having enough dancing skirts for all 40 members will give every participant the confidence, self-esteem, and the opportunity to artistically present themselves with traditional wear which is needed to perform at all performances. Ballet Folklorico is a beautiful way to bring the school community, the community we live in, and culture, together as one. We have had the privilege to perform at events such as the 16th of September, Day of the Dead, A retirement home, Cinco de mayo, and our yearly school talent show. Your donations will make us feel and look like stars.
