Scholarly research has shown that students learn better when they are comfortable and are allowed to move. Flexible seating meets the needs of learners of the 21st century to learn in creative ways. Students today like to move and create and as a teacher, I want to promote that. I want to provide my students with creative and meaningful opportunities to help them excel and feel confident. The items I am hoping to receive are pieces of furniture that will allow students to work collaboratively with others or independently. Working in a charter school comes large class sizes. When a teacher is working in small groups, 20 other kindergartens must stay focus during this time. With my engaging center activities alongside flexible seating options, students will learn the importance of completing the task independently or in collaboration with peers in a fun and less stressful way without losing focus.
