I am a 7th grade math teacher at a Jr. High School. We teach to a diverse group of students in our school. We have made great progress in the last few years in our student growth and our test scores over the last couple of years are showing that. We have been above both the State and District math scores. We are proud of everything our students accomplish. We are lucky enough to have 1:1 Chromebooks for our students, which greatly helps facilitate individual learning. However, the technology I have available to me to teach whole class is lacking. Currently my technology consists of my desktop computer, a dated document camera and a classroom projector. When I am teaching my students whole class, I project items on to my standard class whiteboard and use expo-markers to write on the projections. Although this method does work, I would love to bring my class into the 21st century by having a class iPad and pencil that I can use with a remote desktop software, such as SpashTop, to do whole class instruction. With an iPad, I could take projects from my desktop or take pictures of worksheets, etc. and display them on the board. I can use the iPad to walk around the room while teaching and annotate what the students are seeing with the pencil. My students could also use the iPad to show their work to the whole class.
