The flexible seating options I chose will be used to enhance the learning in my classroom. After a year with a very energetic class, I found that my students needed something different than the typical desk and chair to stay focused. After adding some different seating options and workspaces, the atmosphere in my classroom became one where students had choices and were able to find a place that helped them work hard and interact in more positive ways with their peers. Many studies over recent years have shown that flexible seating creates a more productive, engaging classroom and decreases behavioral issues. Allowing students to choose if they want to sit on a cushion, at a low table, in a bean bag chair or even a lap desk helps them to self regulate their behavior, stay more focused and stimulates thinking. All of this leads to a classroom where the level of productive learning increases and students enjoy coming to school. The products I chose will help me to provide my students with more flexible seating options and continue to build a positive classroom environment.
