I have a very diverse classroom. Seven students are ELL. They are very excited about using English in a Flash---when they can use the computer. There are also ten students using the Accelerated Reader program. These students are reading above grade level. This program allows them to read books independently and then take a short comprehension quiz. They earn points and prizes for reading books. California has made major cuts in education funding. Our class size has increased, meaning more tables and chairs needed to be added to the classroom. The old Apple computers had to be removed. Now we have only my teacher computer, which I allow the students to use for English in a Flash and Accelerated Reader.
