Knowing that my new students will be coming to my classroom after having 1 1/2 years off of their in school experience and taught via Zoom only, I knew that I needed to modernize my literacy instruction. Who else, but the one and only literacy guru, Jen Jones from Hello Literacy, did I turn to for help. She is knowledgeable about the state of the art ways of reaching all children and excelling their learning and education. The one main way is to teach literacy instruction using picture books. By donating to my project, you are going to enable me to reach my students in a very rigorous and enjoyable manner. Students love being read to. Not only will I read these books to them once, like the teaching at the beginning of my career, I will read these books to them multiple times, each with a different focus. I have modernized my instruction while keeping them engaged. My students will learn to read/listen/write more closely and respond to the various reference points of these authors. This is going to happen all the while making them feel like they are able to understand what our focus of instruction will be. My goal is to empower my students with their learning strategies rather than have them shut down and not learn.
