Students need the option of differentiated seating to stay active and engaged in the classroom. As I am moving into my first year of teaching, I feel that first and foremost, I want to focus on creating a classroom where students feel that they can be comfortable and assisted in all areas. Differentiated seating is the perfect way to help kiddos get their wiggles out, and keep their minds on their creations while their bodies get the activeness that they need. The use of balance balls and chair bands will help students continue to be active in their seats. They can get out all of their excess energy by bouncing or kicking without distracting others. The wobble cushions and clipboards will be amazing to help students, who work best on the floor, have a comfortable and successful place to work. Research shows that students learn best when in seating that meets the needs of their active bodies and minds. These items will help me create a classroom environment where students are comfortable and ready to learn.
