Students will use the materials to learn beginning sewing techniques in a fun and creative environment. Imagine a classroom in which you are given a chance to design and create your own "Monster Stuffie", "Scribble Monster Stuffie", "Pizza Pillow" or "Donut Keychain". Students will use the materials to learn beginning sewing techniques in a fun and creative environment. I will integrate my projects with other subject areas such as writing and math. For example some teachers at my school use pizza as a a way to teach adding details to their sentences. Just as the teachers use pizza as a way to model increasing details in their writing I will encourage students to express their selves creatively through using the elements of art to make their very own "monster-piece!" I will collaborate with the Media Specialist at my school to incorporate monster stories and activities while creating "Monster Stuffies" in the Art room. In today's fast paced world I hope to open new doors to students who may not otherwise get to experience the lost art of hand sewing.
