Freshmen are a unique brand of students. Currently, I have a pretty tiny room with a kidney shape table for a desk where as many of my students that can fit prefer to sit around, but I'd like to give them some more flexible seating options. We are requesting bean bag seats, a carpet, end table and light. I think it's fair to say many of us probably didn't love sitting in desks in high school, especially when we were trying to write that dreaded paper that our English teacher assigned us, which brings in me! As a freshman English teacher, I typically have at least 3 or 4 students huddled around my desk for help on essays or other writing, or preferring to sit at my desk when working simply because it's more comfortable. As much as I love my kiddos, I would also love my desk back! So I would love to give my students one or two little corners in my classroom where they can really focus on their work, decompress, and relax and be comfortable in their learning environment.
