One of the first things you learn in science is how to create an experimental design and use the scientific method. NGSS learning provides students with an opportunity to learn hands-on and discover with their own experimental design how the scientific method works, and why it works. For example, demonstrating properties of water such as specific heat, cooling properties, and phase change properties by using the beakers and hot plate. Similarly, measuring mass with a triple beam balance for accuracy both before an experiment and after an experiment, such as with calorimetry labs. Basic science essentials such as, beakers, graduated cylinders, hot plates and triple beam balances are some of the necessities required to begin exploration in science. Our school has a science specialist designing brand new NGSS based lessons full of rich phenomena certain to engage and inspire the scientific curiosities of our students. As we all know, once engagement occurs, curiosities are piqued, then the students will go all-in using the materials provided to discover, explore, learn, and develop critical thinking skills. These materials will aid my students in achieving our goal of providing scientific literacy for all students. Please help me give my students the requisite tools to use in scientific processes so they may discover, explore and investigate scientific phenomenon successfully.
