Using the 20 engineering design kits in this project, my K-5 elementary students will be able to create and problem solves, real-world solutions to real-world problems. This will allow us to work on a smaller scale to eventually build up to full-scale design projects. Because these materials are reusable, every student at every grade level will have an opportunity to design with them. Imagine engineering your delivery system to get toys from Santa's sleigh to a child's stocking? Or what about creating a system to deliver clean water to impoverished areas? Students can solve problems for themselves or think more globally using a hands-on approach that allows one to test cause and effect with actual moving parts.
