I know this looks like a big ask, but the MalletStation is a godsend to small band programs. It's essentially a synthesizer that can be any mallet instrument (or any instrument that you have sounds of). Instead of spending thousands on a marimba, a few more thousands on a vibraphone, and another for a xylophone, this one instrument lets us have all those sounds at 1/8 the cost. Multiple students can play it at a time, it is durable, it is easy to maintain, and we get the extra benefit on dispelling the notion of rural schools not being "hip" to change. This little mountain-town can be cutting edge and the students can show that they have just as much talent as a school with an arsenal of instruments.
