Teaching History through Anti-Racist texts are vital to Decolonizing History Curriculum. Now more than ever, our Students of Color need to be represented in the content they're learning about. The texts chosen for this project put Anti-Racism first, and teach students what transformative action look like. When students come into my middle school classroom, they're coming in with their own histories and experiences that need to be acknowledged and validated. These two texts are accessible for the range of readers in the classroom. Both books are geared toward the teenage readers, and are interactive. I'm asking for 100 copies of each book so that every seventh and eighth grade Social Studies teacher has a class set. With classrooms numbers that have gone up to 42, it's important that every student has their own copy to read. It's necessary that we are using these critical texts in the classroom.
