Cuisenaire Rods will provide a visual and tactile experience for my students. The rods can be used for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The rods will allow my primary students (K-2nd grades) to design various shapes and "trains" to compose and decompose numbers. Students will be able to discover how some combination of rods is equal in length to others. It is also an effective model for decimals and fractions. The rods will allow my upper-grade students (3rd-5th) to explore by comparing and ordering the length of the rods and then recording the results on a graph paper to visualize the structure of the design. By donating to our project, you will help to improve the building of mathematical reasoning skills.
