These books will help me add to my classroom library so that students can check out books about topics that interest them. Unfortunately, our school does not offer a library, so I have filled my own bookshelf with my personal novels. Many of my novels are outdated. My students love it when I find new and exciting books for them! However, there are only so many books I can buy on my own. My students love to read, especially about science and historical figures. I want to give them a better opportunity to read about topics that interest them so they continue to develop their love for learning. I want my classroom to be a place where they feel encouraged to read. This will help them to develop a habit of reading as they get older. Reading helps students with many aspects of their learning and brain development. In the 6th grade, students are expected to have a wide knowledge of many subject areas. They are also expected to be able to read and understand scientific and historical texts. These books will help my students with these skills and will help them become more well-rounded thinkers and individuals.
