I have accepted the challenge of doing more with less in my ELA classroom next year. With larger incoming class sizes and a smaller room, I still believe students can be comfortable and that learning can abound. These seating options will allow students this comfort while taking little space. I already have a vip area with seating for 5, but I plan to have nestable risers built for 30. Students can sit on these risers, or they could grab a cushion, sit on the floor, and practice collaborative learning, using the risers as tables. Then these can be put away when it is time to get up and move!
