In our classroom, I work to create an environment that each and every student can feel comfortable in. I work to create a village of love, support and understanding. When my kids feel comfortable in our space, they are more inclined to focus and to share making for a dynamic classroom environment. I am asking for tables, bean bag chairs, a standing desk and clipboards. What I noticed this year is that when my kids were comfortable they became more comfortable in my class, they were more focused and ready to learn. I can't tell you the number of times I had kids race to my classroom to "claim" their beanbag for the day. I had students volunteer, participate in independent reading and focus during lessons! Something as simple as working in my rolling chair or sitting on the floor during a lesson has an impact.
