My students are mostly English language learners in one of the largest public schools in the state of Illinois. They live in a low income and dangerous neighborhood. For many of them, school, specifically the classroom, is where they feel safest. Despite their circumstances, the students are kind, show respect to each other, and they savor each bit of information that is given to them. They yearn for the chances to succeed.
