Students will get to experience real life 21st century relavent nonfiction texts through monthly magazines that are aimed to their reading levels. These magazines are based on seasons, popular topics and common interests of my students. Each month Scholastic selects culturally responsive and relevant topics to expose students with. The informational texts not only provide information but also are equipped with activities and digital learning opportunities for whole class instruction as well! These magazines will continue to enhance the print-rich environment that I have worked hard to provide for students, reinforcing the importance of nonfiction literature sources. This magazine subscription also supports our social studies standards as well by addressing civics and government as well as many popular holidays. They also pertain to our science standards with their emphasis on animals and animal sciences.
