My experiences with working in a special education classroom has highlighted the specific issues with vocabulary acquisition. Many of the students are lacking early, developmental language skills and even struggle to communicate their wants and needs. This language activity box includes very basic (but necessary) skills including categorizing, identifying concepts, and comprehending associations. This activity box also presents information in a visually-engaging way that maximizes my student's ability to attend and participate. Additionally, every student benefits from significant adaptations to curricular tasks that allow them to communicate their answers by utilizing motor skills (i.e., touching, handing over a manipulative items.) In this way, Velcro and laminating paper allow students to participate when they struggle with more traditional modes of participation (i.e., speaking/writing)
