These students have been slowed down by coivd, but they have not been stopped! Center Time is one of the most important and beloved times in kindergarten. The materials that are being requested in this grant will help center time be a time of learning. The activities that students do during center time need to be challenging enough to keep them actively engaged in their learning yet simple enough that they can do them independently. The students will love the variety that these materials will give them and they will be more engaged in their learning. Our district is in the process of shifting from a whole language reading approach to a phonics approach. The books that we have in our classroom library are not books that the students can read on their own. These books will give them the ability to use the lessons they are learning in small group to read books that are decodable so they will be able to read them independently.
