With your help, my students will have a comfortable space within the classroom for them to decompress when they are experiencing feelings of stress. Given the pandemic and being away from the classroom and doing remote learning this past year has been stressful, and it has also affected their learning process and overall well being. This safe and comfortable space their second home from home will be decorated with a cozy chair, rug and lamp and will allow my students to utilize the following materials stored in a 3 tier utility cart: fidgets such as stress balls, fidget cubes and push pop bubble fidgets, coloring mandalas, aroma therapy (diffuser and essential oils), therapeutic lighting (lava lamp), headphones to block noise and hear soothing music, mindfulness journals and practice breathing exercises using a breathing ball. Giving my students access to these materials will enhance my students' coping skills in stress management and will also help them engage in learning by having a clear state of mind and being focused. Ultimately, the cozy corner will help my students learn about the importance of their mental health and self care.
