Adding these new books to my classroom library will provide my students with an opportunity to read the Sunshine State books and a chance to compete in Battle of the Books. Sunshine State Young Readers Award's mission "is to develop student interest in reading for pleasure by exposing them to a wide range of appropriate literature." The books are selected for "their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and/or multicultural representation." These books will become part of our permanent classroom library and will be available for the students to read throughout the year!
