Each small group of students having their own rekenrek will allow for multiple opportunities for students to practice computing to 100. Little ones learn best by manipulating objects, and these rekenreks will allow them hands on learning. Having multiple rekenreks in the classroom will allow more opportunities for cooperative grouping among students in the 2nd grade classroom. Seeing is believing! Students will actually get to touch and move the beads on the rekenrek to show their understanding instead of watching the teacher do it. Better known as an abacus, the rekenrek supports the natural development of number sense in children.
