In a world where we are preparing students for jobs that don't exist yet it is impossible to overlook the combination of technology and creativity. Students in my simulated workplace classes design and create products including logos, banners, stickers, printed shirts, laser engraved plaques, and 3D printed models for real clients within our school system and community. Having an iPad Pro will give my students options to design on the go using the latest mobile design applications. For example, when meeting with a client a student may sketch several options for a logo or business card or use Adobe Color to create a custom color palette. Once back in the lab, these files can be imported into Adobe Illustrator for further iteration of the design. The iPad Pro will also give students the ability to share design comps, portfolios and 3D models to clients prior to printing. The mobility of the iPad Pro will also allow students to use QuickBooks at client locations rather than having to return to the computer lab to prepare estimates and invoices. The option to interact with clients using the latest mobile technology will increase student professionalism, presentation skills, ​and efficiency.
