Being able to play outside is a young child's dream. Having the freedom to run around in a large space is thrilling, however rain occasionally puts a damper on this. By providing my young student with rain boots and umbrellas, they will never have to miss out in going outside because of the rain. "Childhood is that state which ends the moment a puddle is first viewed as an obstacle instead of an opportunity" - Kathy Williams. As adults we sometimes forget how much fun we had playing in the rain or mud puddles as children. I want to give that opportunity to explore outside in different weather back to my small scholars. Playing outside in the rain gives them the opportunity to learn about weather (not just from a window), see wildlife or insects in a different way and explore new learning opportunities in an environment that they may never have the chance to do. Our schools current playground needs some other toys to inspire our young children to explore and play on, rather than the same black top and tires they play with daily. The airplane teeter totter I'm asking for will add a little more to our small, sad play space.
