These materials will make a difference in my students' learning because they will be exposed to texts that will broaden their understanding of diversity and equity. I will use these books as read-alouds, where we learn comprehension strategies, while unpacking the culturally relevant meaning in the story and how it applies to their lives. They will learn that all children regardless of race, gender, or culture have the right to learn, be included, and be the best versions of themselves! These books will be beautiful additions to my bleak library filled with old donated books with dominantly white characters.
