One of my top teaching goals is for all of my students to look forward to coming to school by knowing that they are going to be having fun while learning. I spend many days and nights planning lessons that get my students involved, moving, and working with others. I love to create scavenger hunts where students look for correct math answers while solving problems, classroom transformations for reviews before unit tests to get students amped for their tests, hands-on models for students to get a 3-D look at our science topic, and games where math concepts are reinforced but students are able to help one another. These are just a few of the many ways I engage my students. The items I am asking to be donated to my class will allow me to continue to provide these activities to my students. When students are engaged they show more growth in their learning and have higher scores. Unbeknownst to them, they are rigorously practicing every day.
