There are many benefits to flexible seating. Several of these benefits include improved physical health, comfort, forming a sense of community, meeting sensory needs, promoting accountability, and allowing students to have control and choice in their learning environment. Many of my students come to me each day without their basic needs being met. They arrive at school tired, hungry, and in some cases, full of anxiety because of issues outside of school. With all of the extra "baggage" they bring to school, I can at least make sure they are comfortable in the classroom, and flexible seating will help me accomplish this. Flexible seating will also boost physical health, as younger children need to move around every 10-15 minutes. Additionally, flexible seating will create an environment that is focused on community and collaboration. I am very passionate about providing what is best for each and every one of my kids. Flexible seating will accommodate a majority of the needs of my students, while also making my classroom an enjoyable and comfortable atmosphere for learning.
