In setting up our school's first dyslexia lab, we have no place to sit. Only three chairs have been located so far. The students will sit in these chairs around a kidney-shaped table as I work with small groups of dyslexic students to help them learn strategies to overcome their reading difficulties. The document camera will help to clearly model multi-sensory activities for the students by projecting onto a white board. It will enable the students to watch with an unobstructed view the lesson that they are trying to master. One example is handwriting which is extremely difficult for a dyslexic student. The camera will help them see how to correctly form their letters as they are saying the sounds for which these symbols stand. These chairs and the document camera will also be used with Reading Intervention groups of students who are at risk academically. These gifts will help many students on their path to success!
