During each visit ,we will do an activity together. A student favorite for the language domain is a letter/number sorting activity. We make a T chart and they use foam stickers to identify letters vs #’s or letters in their name vs letters that are not in their name. Another student favorite is an activity called hanging out the wash, where they roll a dice, find a sock with the matching dot pattern and a clothespin with the corresponding number on it to hang it on the line (fine motor & cognitive development). One of my personal favorites is a sorting activity where we start by sorting colored bears with matching cups, then by shape using colored buttons of various shapes, and finally sort by use, such as things you write with, or things you might use on your hair or build with, etc. We end every visit with a book that is either read by me or even better, the parent. I love to see a child crawl on a parents lap and really enjoy the one and one time together.
