Forensics is a relatively new course topic at our school. It has become very popular, even as an elective. Forensics is the only science class taught at our school that crosses biology, chemistry, physics, computer science, and math. Many of the investigation tools are relatively low cost, and can be purchased with student fees. The cost of this investment is simply outside what we can charge the students in fees. Most thermal cyclers used for PCR DNA replication cost thousands, or even tens of thousands of dollars. We have found a low-cost alternative. Unfortunately, this is still more than we can afford.
