The oil painting class is a favorite with our students. They learn to paint with oils and acrylics on an easel. The easel enables the artist to see color, value and compare form to the subject. It also reduces glare from the overhead lights so that correct colors can be achieved.
We need easels that don't collapse into the palette, fall off the table or randomly fall apart. Those that we have chosen are good sturdy, small scale easels that will fit our limited space requirements and enable our student artist to concentrate on their work instead of the wobbly easel. They have the added bonus of folding so that they will be easy to store and keep safe. The oil painting classes will use these each class period as they learn to control that wonderful ever-shifting oil paint. The beginning classes will use them to paint with tempera as they learn to mix tints and shades. We will also use them to display art at the two student art shows. My students will be so excited for these wonderful tools!
