I am a teacher in a rural school in Pennsylvania where I see approximately 615 students. The school is the social hub of the community. Many student's families have farms or their parents are blue collar workers. The students are proud of their community and many families have lived here for several generations. The students hunger for experiences outside of their community and are so eager to learn. I try to provide a more global view of the world in the Art room to help them be more competitive with students in other districts. I not only provide them with rich art experiences but try to provide them with technology based experiences as well. When I was able to provide a field trip, through a grant, to an urban museum the students thought they were in New York city! They were so excited and inspired they have committed to creating an installation art piece in our main hall next year. They love to collaborate and share ideas with each other.
