My students are 10-and 11-year olds on a mission. They believe they can make a difference in the world and so do their families. That's why they attend a community charter school, a school dedicated to environmental stewardship and sustainable living. This year they are taking the issue of pollinator protection into their own hands, sharing information with the local and school communities, planning a pollinator garden, and preparing to build a bee hive to be placed on our school property. To make a difference in the future, we need to understand the past. So our next adventure will be into the story of America. We'll discover history right in our community and construct knowledge about our roots by integrating art, literature, and music into our investigations. We'll explore different cultures and social systems by "living" them through skits, role plays, writing, and creative expression. Thank you for your support!
