My students are readers. They get so excited when they have new books on interesting topics. Children take home book baggies weekly filled with 10 books to read with their families and in the classroom. They change books each week and with these short books they read them quickly . Many families don’t have these simple early level texts at home. I will also use these guided reading texts to support children in small group. Having multiple copies of a book allows me to teach and read with 4-5 kids at time . Through small group guided reading instruction , I am able to support them in learning sight words, vocabulary, and comprehension strategies . They truly love ❤️ this small group attention. It is my favorite part of my day !
