I want to create an engaging learning environment centered around my Kindergartners unique learning needs. Most of our students are new to a classroom environment. We want to maximize our students learning by helping them get their wiggles out to enhance their focus. The more movement the students are exposed to increase the brain's readiness and ability to learn and retain information. Each student will be given the opportunity to choose a seat that would help them learn best everyday. I had a high energy group of kids this past year and halfway through the year I wrote a grant for alternative seating in my previous district. The students engagement increase and it reduced classroom management challenges. It made the classroom feel more warm, inviting, and safe. We also have a great stem opportunity that will encourage creative thinking and problem solving. Makerspace is an opportunity for our students to do hands on learning. We will incorporate these into our learning centers that helps with developing students abilities to work cooperatively, build using design techniques, to incorporate engineering, and to build community. The students will have the opportunity to invent with their peers and improve their creativity and imagination that will be applied to classroom curriculum. Interactive play is another thing we incorporate into learning centers to help give students the opportunity to develop strong social skills when interacting with one another. Please help us as we give our students the tools to help be successful in giving our students the ability to be abstract thinkers in Kindergarten.
