My engineering students need to practice STEAM, project-based learning, and engineering design practices. The 3D Printing and Rapid Prototyping Lab allow my students to experience rapid development and parallel modeling and testing. When engineering bold new designs, 3D printing lets you try new prototypes, addressing problems and finding solutions as you go – all in only a matter of hours. Even those with complex internal structures and geometries, something traditional methods just can’t offer. 3D printing gives my students a prototype to hold in a matter of days, allowing them to see what works and what does not. They can see what they need to do, and iterate on it quickly. This saves everyone time, money, and sanity, and lets them learn at the same time.
