My students will be immersed in the reading of the book: The Missing Gator of Gumbo Limbo through an exploration simulation. We will read each chapter taking notes in a field journal, using binoculars to find animals, flowers, and trees that match the description in our story, while taking our learning outside. Each child will be given binoculars, an explorer hat, and a camping chair to take to our very own Gumbo Limbo Hammock outside on school grounds. Students will learn about their state and engulf themselves in the book along the way.
