We are constantly trying to keep up with technology in the classroom to keep it innovative and relevant to the students. One great idea I saw on Instagram was using the HP 360 laptop and stylus to create lessons/interactive notes, and then stream beam to project them in real time. Students thrive when they get to experiment with technology and can relate the content to themselves and the real world. A fun lesson I will be able to do is the Angry Birds Quadratic lesson. I will be able to teach quadratics using an angry birds game. I will use the 360 to create a graph with angry birds on it. They must find the quadratic that projects the angry bird across to land on the pig. I will have students work out the problem on their own at their desks. As I'm walking around I will choose a student to take the 360 and input their quadratic. We as a class will be able to see if it hits the pig! Students use quadratics without realizing it, even in the games they play on their phones! In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, I want to ensure my students have a safe place at school, and have as much fun as possible learning. Making learning fun and relatable using technology is the perfect way to keep them engaged and excited about Math!
