At my school, we are lucky enough to have half a classroom set of keyboards to use during my 5th graders' keyboard unit. However, all the other grades can benefit from musical exploration on a keyboard. Unfortunately, we do no have keyboard stands so we are using tables for the keyboards. We need the tables for other instruction. Having keyboard stands would allow a keyboard lab to be set up year round. This will allow for the 5th graders to form proper technique when playing piano (instead of being cramped and using poor hand technique at the table). It would also allow for other grades to use the pianos for musical exploration, composition and more! Students will be able to go to the keyboards for various activities and centers. By having keyboard stands, we can make use of the great resources we have and the keyboard lab can be set up year round while still being able to make use of our tables and counter space in the classroom.
