For the past few years, I have watched as classrooms in my buildings embrace the flexible seating change. I have loved visiting classrooms and learning more about what they have to offer, so I decided to try it for my students that present with higher sensory needs, especially while they learn. In my therapy room, I have already noticed a difference between stationary chairs and stationary stools! My kiddos have so much more focus and fun! It's different, it's unique to the speech room, it's inviting! I would love for my students to be able to wiggle and giggle while they learn! These stools would not only benefit my students as they learn to increase their language and articulation skills, but also contribute with their overall core development, self-control/body control, and focus. These stools would also provide an outlet for those students that I serve who benefit from sensory input.
