As I begin to plan for my 20th year of teaching, I continue to be mindful that my instructional methods need to match the way today's children learn. My classroom environment is modeled after Starbucks. If you walk into the coffee shop people are productively engaged and intentionally chose where to sit. If you were to enter my classroom, you would hear instrumental music playing in the background, the classroom lights would be off with bulb lights lit around the room, and essential oils lingering in air. I foster an atmosphere where students get to know themselves as learners and what they need to be productive. Through my own funding over the years, I have managed to including some flexible seating to encourage choice; however I would love to offer my choices including a high top table with chairs, standing desk, etc... We would love for you to consider supporting the post pandemic way of learning!
