Reading is the foundation of all learning. Students are immersed in reading as soon as they enter school. With this immersion, by the upper elementary grades, students have fallen out of love with reading for pleasure. Students just read because they are told what to read. My goal is to change my students perspective on reading for pleasure. My student are provided time weekly to "shop for books." Books selected are then put into the neon book totes for the students to take to an area in the room. Once an area is found, the love of reading is grown.
