When students work in small groups they have the ability to have their voices heard by their peers. Small groups provide students with the environment to safely share their ideas and hear the ideas of others. Dry erase easels would help bring small group work to a higher level of learning. Students would have the benefit of working in small groups while still being able to share out their ideas with the whole class. In this way students are not sharing their individual ideas, but they are sharing their group's ideas. This can help engage students that otherwise might not have participated or have been heard. When students "go visual" they get to tangibly see their ideas in front of them. When they step back and analyze their ideas and words, they can make connections and revisions that they otherwise might not have made.
