Makerspace Mindset is a way to help students work on their growth mindset, while also using their creativity and problem solving skills. My project includes a variety of materials that will be used during classroom instruction, free play, and a STEM lunch program. Makerspace Mindset will give students the tools to make creative structures, while also making meaningful memories with their peers! KEVA planks, K'NEX building set and Picasso magnetic tiles will allow for a hands-on experience that any student can confidently begin using in my class. They will get to test out their own ideas, as well as, work in groups during more focused lessons and STEM challenges. The most beneficial part of Makespace Mindset is the Makedo Cardboard Construction Toolset. Students’ growth mindset will be put to the test, while also allowing them to make elaborate cardboard structures. They will learn to repurpose everyday cardboard. In addition, the Makedo projects will be integrated with our 4th grade social studies, science, math, and literacy curriculum. I cannot wait to see what they create!
