Learning the basic fundamentals of music includes learning to maintain a steady beat while performing music. It also includes learning to play our instruments in tune. The metronome and tuner would be used daily in our class. Students will learn to maintain a constant tempo through hearing the beat from the metronome while they rehearse. Students will also learn to hear pitches and tune their instruments for performance. Band will give these children an opportunity to contribute to the community by participating in parades, giving concerts, and by being positive role models in the school for younger students. For many students, this is their opportunity to create wonderful school memories that will last a lifetime.
